Inside owner Chris Blackwell has remodeled Goldeneye in a vaguely Polynesian motif. It was heartening to see Fleming's insufferable dining table and chairs still being used.
Noel Coward never let up about these, going so far as to write one of his inimitable verses to express his discomfort:
"Alas! I cannot accurately find
Words to express the hardness of the seat
Which, when I cheerfully sit down to eat
Seared with such cunning into my behind."
-- From "Ian Fleming Introduces Jamaica", 1965. Edited by Morris Cargill.
And Cargill says Coward wasn't being unfair.
