Ian Fleming's Jamaica

Negril is, of course, a well known resort area on the western end of the country -- where Bond would not be caught dead (unless Scaramanga had been worthy of his reputation.)

The West.

However, much of Fleming's Dr. No and The Man with the Golden Gun are set here. In the latter novel, this is roughly where Scaramanga's mythical "Thunderbird" hotel would have been under construction. The relatively unknown west end also brings us Frome, still a major sugar town, and Savannah la Mar, all key to Fleming's last novel.
