All Redskins' Draft Picks Now Under Contract

When the day began, nearly half of all NFL teams still had a 2012 draft pick not yet under contract. After coming to terms with their two top picks, the Redskins are no longer one of those teams, with all 90 players under contract.

The Redskins kicked off the day by signing No. 2 overall pick Robert Griffin III to a long-awaited contract.

Griffin III announced his deal via Twitter, saying: "Well people....It's Time to go to Work!!! Off the unemployment line and oh yea HTTR!!!!"

Third-round pick Josh LeRibeus arrived at Redskins Park in the middle of the afternoon to finalize his deal.

"This is definitely a day I've been looking forward to since the draft," LeRibeus said with a smile.  "Just to be able to say I'm officially a Redskin--you can tell people you're a Redskin all day, but now I have some empirical evidence to back it up."

For both players, the issue was never a matter of 'if,' but simply 'when' the contracts would be finalized. Griffin III was the first of the top-eight overall picks to sign.

LeRibeus said that he got a phone call from his agent early this morning, telling him that the deal would get done, and a hearty congratulations.

"I didn't think I would be the last [Redskin] to sign, but it worked out pretty well," he said.  "We've kept cool through the whole process, and now it's finally done."

Both players participated in the Redskins offseason workouts, and have been in contact with coaches since the end of mini-camp.

While NFL rules barred rookies from working out at the team facilities this week until they signed, both Redskins did some conditioning on their own.

"I didn't have a field to run on and my cleats were stuck here, but I've definitely been conditioning on my own," LeRibeus said. "Before this week, I worked out here at the facilities since I got back in town on July 6th.

"It's good to be official, and it will be nice to get to work."
