The Washington Redskins Cheerleaders are overseas for their 50th Military Appreciation Tour. To keep up with the ladies, The Redskins Blog will be an outlet as they talk about their experiences.
Hi Redskins Fans!
My name is Stephanie and this is my rookie season as a Washington Redskins Cheerleader. I was so ecstatic when I found out I was going to be a part of this amazing history of the 50th Military Appreciation Tour.
This experience is extra special to me because I am a proud military wife.
Getting to see some of the places my husband has deployed to has not only given me a better understanding of what our troops go through, but also a little slice of him that I never would've gotten to be a part of.
The icing on the cake is I found out my brother in law -- who is a Marine -- will be at one of the bases we will be visiting later in the week. Getting to see a family member halfway across the world is so surreal and I am so thankful for this experience.
Today was our first day here in Kuwait! The troops gave us a great tour of the base including the medical unit where we saw a demonstration of how they take care of injured and sick personnel. We dined in the DFAC for lunch and it was so fun talking with some of the service men and women. We had a couple more stops and it was interesting learning what some of their specific jobs on base were.
It was a high of 111 degrees and, unfortunately, there was a sand storm, but no way was that going to stop us!
Combine the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders and the military, and a solution to any problem will be found. They moved us inside and it was finally show time! The crowd was so positive and responsive that it was one of the most fun times I've ever had on stage - and this is only day one!
I can't express how much I appreciate the men and women of the military and I can't wait to make memories that I know will last a lifetime.
Hail to the Redskins,
