Clark Injured, Will Miss Chiefs Game

Safety Ryan Clark will sit out Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs due to a bruised spleen injury. It's uncertain when Clark sustained the injury. Clark did not make the team's trip to Kansas City.

With Clark sidelined, Matt Bowen and Pierson Prioleau are expected to share duties at safety alongside Sean Taylor. Assistant head coach-defense Gregg Williams will likely play Bowen and Prioleau depending on the situation and defensive packages.

Also on Saturday, the Redskins signed defensive back Dimitri Patterson to the 53-man roster. To make room for Patterson, the team released linebacker Zak Keasey.

With cornerback Shawn Springs listed as questionable, coaches felt they needed some depth at the cornerback position for Sunday's game. The Chiefs have one of the NFL's top passing offenses.

The Redskins made a similar roster move two weeks ago, prior to the Week 3 game against the Seattle Seahawks. Cornerback Walt Harris was declared inactive for that game and the team felt it needed Patterson for depth.

Patterson, a rookie out of Tuskegee, was active but did not play in the Seahawks game.

Meantime, Harris is expected to play on Sunday against the Chiefs. He had missed the last two games due to a calf injury. Rookie cornerback Carlos Rogers could start for the third consecutive week if Springs is unable to go.
