Hixon Remains With Injured Son

Drew Hixon, the son of Redskins wide receivers coach Stan Hixon, is in critical condition in Intensive Care Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Fla. Drew, a wide receiver at Tennessee Tech University, suffered a head injury at the end of a play during a game between Tennessee Tech and University of South Florida.

Stan Hixon flew to Miami on Saturday evening and was not in attendance at Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.

"The team has been saying prayers for him the last two days, just praying for a quick recovery," head coach Joe Gibbs said on Monday.

Drew Hixon was a regular presence during Redskins training camp this year. He helped his father for several weeks until he reported to Tennessee Tech's preseason workouts in mid-August.

The Hixon family released a statement on Tennessee Tech's web site:

"The family of Drew Hixon would like to express our deep appreciation for the wellspring of support that we have received from people all across the America in response to Drew's injury. Although he is in critical condition, we are trusting God for his life and healing. We know that nothing is impossible with God and we request your continued prayers for Drew's full and complete recovery."
