Joe Gibbs Post-Game Press Conference

On his feelings about the entire game:

"Everybody on our end is absolutely thrilled. I wanted to start by thanking everyone. I want to thank our fans. That is one of the best sporting crowds I have ever been a part of. I appreciate every single one of them and I know that they appreciate their football team. We have a lot of hero stories here. Chris Samuels (OL, #60) did not even know if was going to be able to go. Shawn Springs (CB, #21), Walt Harris (CB, #27) to name a few. We have a lot of guys who rallied. I thought we were going to have a bunch of guys miss the game and in the end we played the game of our lives. It was a great night for us. We have a lot of respect for Dallas and we know how good they are. I hope that their injured player is okay and the only sad new is it looks like Randy broke his ankle. We will miss him. He has been a real leader for us. I think he has had as good of a year as I remember a guard having. We will miss him terribly. Other than that it simply feels great to be a part of it."

On the play of the defense:

"Our defense played extremely well. There has to be credit given, not only to Gregg Williams. We know what he has done for this team. All of the coaches were well prepared. This was a tough week for them. Walt and Shawn didn't practice till the last day. It was great preparation on the coaches' part. I think we have a heck a of coaching staff here and our players show an incredible amount of heart. They showed a lot of character. They put up a great fight today. I really appreciate it. It was a great night to be a part of."

On the excitement Joe Bugel brings to the team:

"Joe Buges is always excited. When I ask Buges what play it is always 40 or 50 gut. He only has two plays. All of us are excited it was a big night for us."

On how well prepared they were for the Cowboys:

"This is the most accurate our team has been since I can remember. Certainly in the last two years I can't remember us coming close to today. I thought it was great preparation by both sides and special teams as well. I was proud of the fact that we took advantage of the mistakes that were made and it wound up being one of those games that you dream about."

On how the present is different than the Gibbs' teams of the past:

"I think certainly, personally for me it is like starting all over. I said that when I came back and the past doesn't really buy you anything. I think this game was really big because last year was a struggle for us and this year we have been up and down, up until this point. We did put together two good road games and this was a game where we had to take a step. I thought we stepped up. We have a big game next week against a team that really did a number on us the first go-around. It is going to be a short work week, too. They are going to have one extra day of preparation on us, so we are going to have to call on our guys to respond again."

On beating the Dallas Cowboys at home for the first time since 2002:

"I can't remember being happier. First of all, I want to say a big thanks to our fans. I think that was 100,000 [people] right there. Everyone did their part. Our players really appreciated our fans. Coming back home and being in front of [them], got us so excited. I'm happy for [Redskins owner] Dan [Snyder] and the whole organization. We're just thrilled. The Lord blessed us. This is a great day. Our guys played their hearts out."

On whether the Redskins played their best game of the season:

"It was. I felt real solid. It was interesting our guys were real quiet the last couple of days. I was kind of nervous. I didn't know what was going to happen. I think they were quiet because they were really concentrating. It was a great effort on everyone's part. They really played hard. You know how good Dallas is. That's a good football team. It's just more about the way we played today. We certainly have a big one coming up next week [against the Giants]."
