ALL-TIME SERIES

  • The Redskins have not won at Lambeau Field in Green Bay since 1988, losing four straight to the Packers on the road.
  • Washington won the last matchup between the two, which came during Week 3 of last season. Starting quarterback Alex Smith and running back Adrian Peterson combined for 360 yards and four touchdowns in the 31-17 victory.

OTHER SIGNIFICANT CHANGES

Redskins:

  • Undrafted rookie wideout Steven Sims, who is second in the league in kick return yards (666), has seen his offensive snaps increase in recent weeks. Sims appeared in 58% and 40% of the unit's plays — two of his three highest percentages this season — over the past two games.
  • After joining the team's active roster just days ahead of Week 13's tilt against the Carolina Panthers, linebackers Chris Odom and Nate Orchard made their presences felt in Sunday's win. The pair combined for eight tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble.

Packers:

  • The Packers claimed tackle Jared Veldheer off of waivers from the New England Patriots on Nov. 29. Veldheer, who is still listed on the commissioner's exempt list after a six-month retirement from the NFL, should provide good depth along the offensive line for Green Bay moving forward. The veteran has started a combined 112 games at left and right tackle in his career.
  • After serving as an offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams in 2017 and then the Tennessee Titans in 2018, Matt LaFleur joined the Packers as the team's new head coach in January. Thus far, LaFleur has guided Green Bay to a 9-3 record and a one-game lead over the Vikings in the NFC North.

STORYLINES/THINGS TO WATCH

  • Preston Smith faces off against his old team -- After four years with the Redskins, linebacker Preston Smith signed with the Packers in March. This Sunday will be the first time Smith, who already boasts a career-high 10.5 sacks this season, gets to compete against his former team.
  • Redskins searching for first win at Lambeau in over 30 years -- Entering Sunday's contest on a two-game win streak, Washington will look to build on recent success by ending yet another streak (the Redskins had not won in Carolina since 1998 until last Sunday). Losing their last four matchups at the historic Lambeau Field, the burgundy and gold hope to start a new trend in Week 14.
  • Resurgent Redskins' run game -- Behind Derrius Guice and Adrian Peterson, the Redskins rushed for a season-high 248 yards last weekend. The pair will have a chance to build on that performance Sunday when they line up against the Packers' 25th-best rush defense.
  • Packers' home dominance -- Green Bay is 5-1 at home this season, with their only defeat coming by one score to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4. Given that Sunday marks the Packers' first home game in almost a month, the Redskins should expect a hostile crowd in chilly conditions.

INTRIGUING MATCHUPS

  • RB Derrius Guice vs. MLB Blake Martinez -- Against the Panthers, Guice re-introduced himself to the NFL with a career-high 129 rushing yards on just 10 carries. If he hopes to continue that progression Sunday, he'll have to get by Blake Martinez, the NFL's leading tackler (118 total and 74 solo) and the quarterback of the Packers defense.
  • WR Davante Adams vs. CB Quinton Dunbar -- Adams, a two-time Pro Bowler and Aaron Rodgers' favorite target, will match up against Quinton Dunbar, who has been shadowing the opposing team's best receiver in recent weeks. Whoever wins this 1-on-1 battle on the perimeter may go a long way in determining who wins Sunday.
  • WR Kelvin Harmon vs. Packers Secondary -- While Terry McLaurin has already emerged as a playmaker during his rookie campaign, fellow rookie Kelvin Harmon has also made his presence felt over the past three games, as he's totaled 11 receptions for 147 yards. He'll look to keep things going against a tough and young Green Bay secondary.
  • C Corey Linsley vs. DL Matt Ioannidis -- Both in the run and pass game, Ioannidis has been a huge disrupter on the interior of the Redskins defense. Through 12 games, he leads the team in sacks (7.5) and tackles for loss (nine). Linsley, a center for the Packers since 2014, and Ioannidis will be a key matchup Sunday.
