Think Pink Honors Brave Decisions By This WOW Warrior!

Meet Dionne Doby aka DJ Glam. Our WOW Redskins Pregame Tailgate Party DJ!   Hear her amazing story and brave decisions in her battle against Breast Cancer:

"I was diagnosed with breast cancer of the left breast on 05/20/18. My first diagnosis was called Ductal Carcinoma In situ, which is a non-invasive cancer where abnormal cells were found in the lining of the breast milk duct. This type of breast cancer does not have a stage since the atypical cells have not spread outside of the ducts into the surrounding breast tissue.

After further testing to include a MRI and breast biopsy, it was later determined that the Ductal Carcinoma In situ was actually invasive Breast Cancer/HER 2 Positive (stage 1). After meeting with a team of breast cancer physicians to include: a Breast Surgeon, Oncologist, Radiologist, and a Genetics Nurse, to discuss the best treatment plan for my type of breast cancer, I decided to have a Double Mastectomy. The Double Mastectomy was MY first choice because I did not want to risk any chance of later possibly being diagnosed with breast cancer in the right breast.

On June 18, 2018, I had Double Mastectomy surgery! Breast expanders were placed in my breast area to expand my breast tissues which later made it necessary to have reconstructive breast surgery with implants.

Just two months later, I decided to start Chemotherapy, which began in August 2018 and ended in January 2019. My breast reconstruction surgery was in May 2019.

I am very GRATEFUL to be alive and a Breast Cancer Survivor! I truly appreciate the support that I've received from my family and friends….especially my 14 year old daughter, Nyla. I will always believe that "EARLY DETECTION SAVED MY LIFE".

Today, I am honored to be the Official Pre-game DJ for the Women of Washington (WOW).
