Washington Redskins And Inova Medicine Name High School Coach Of The Year

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation announced today that Quantico Middle/High School head football coach, Paul Roy, has been named the 2016 Redskins High School Coach of the Year presented by Inova Sports Medicine.

Coach Roy has coached varsity football, basketball and baseball at Quantico during the past 17 years. The Warriors finished the 2016 season with an impressive 11-1 record, losing in the championship round of the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division 3 playoffs to Roanoke Catholic, 38-21.

Roy was selected as the Redskins High School Coach of the Week for the Week of Oct. 24. As a result of his Coach of the Year selection, Roy will be nominated for the 2016 Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year award and will be invited to Orlando for the USA Football National Conference during Pro Bowl week.

Coach Roy is highly respected among his athletes, their parents and the entire Quantico community. Quantico Middle/High School Assistant Principal, Dan Mulhern, said, "We are fortunate and grateful to have Coach Roy on our staff. Quality programs are not pulled together simply from the numbers of student athletes one has to select from; rather they are sustained and maintained by dedicated professionals at the top of their game. Coach Roy is a leader and is an invaluable asset to our organization."
