For eight Redskins players, the early-morning rush to secure a top parking spot each day at the team's training facility will no longer be an issue.

Awaiting those players – Pierre Garçon, Dashon Goldson, Jason Hatcher, Adam Hayward, Ryan Kerrigan, Kory Lichtensteiger, Alfred Morris and Niles Paul – Tuesday morning when they returned from training camp in Richmond, Va., were their very own prime parking spots closest to the main entrance at Redskins Park.

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said the institution of the special parking spots is the start of an annual tradition at the facility that rewards the players who stand out the most during the team's offseason workout program.

"I thought it was important to reward the guys that we felt like deserved it and worked the hardest, both in the meeting room and on the field, and in the weight and strength room," Gruden told Redskins.com. "Coach [Mike] Clark, myself and the coaches talked about it and came up with those names."

Gruden said each player was "proud of the fact that they were voted on and got the spots."

"You know, it's just a simple thing – it's not that big of a deal," the second-year head coach said. "It's just a way to reward the guys and let them know that we appreciate their hard work, and hopefully other people take their lead."
