LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation announced today that Manassas Park High School football head coach Mike Kelly has been named the Redskins High School Coach of the Week presented by Inova Sports Medicine for the week of Sept. 19.

This is Coach Kelly's first season as head coach at Manassas Park High School. This past weekend, the Cougars advanced to 1-3 after beating Skyline High School 55-35 and snapping a 21-game losing streak, giving them their first win in nearly two years.

As an assistant coach with the team for several years, Coach Kelly has made a commitment to helping rebuild the Manassas Park football program. "Coach Kelly has never wavered in his dedication to this team," said Manassas Park Athletic Director, Dan Forgas. "He has taught his student-athletes the true meaning of hard work."

Forgas praised Kelly for his ability to overcome adversity and remain positive during tough situations, including losing seasons as an assistant coach.

In his first year as head coach, Coach Kelly has kept the health and safety of his players a priority by staying current on all concussion protocol and continuously seeking the guidance of school Athletic Trainers and staff.

At Manassas Park, Coach Kelly is the Chair of the Social Studies Department and the Director of the Summer Cybercamp program, designed to increase high school student's interest in cyber security.

Coach Kelly played college football at the University of Virginia and was a member of the 1995 ACC Championship team.
