LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation announced today that Quantico Middle/High School head football coach, Paul Roy, has been named the Redskins High School Coach of the Week presented by Inova Sports Medicine for the week of Oct. 24.

Coach Roy has coached varsity football, basketball and baseball at Quantico over the past 17 years. This past weekend, the Warriors improved to 9-0 after overcoming a 21-point halftime deficit and defeating Northampton High School, 35-21.

Assistant Principal Dan Mulhern spoke highly of Coach Roy, saying he "leads by example and all of his student-athletes know that he holds character and integrity as the cornerstone of the way he conducts his work."

Coach Roy stresses the importance of community outreach to his players. The team prides themselves in the amount of volunteer community service opportunities they participate in throughout the year including volunteering at races put on by the Marine Corps Marathon office.

Player safety remains a high priority on Coach Roy's agenda. He ensures that the Quantico coaching staff is CPR/AED trained and that all coaches complete classes during the offseason on concussion training and protocol.

Mulhern credits the success of Quantico's football program to the hard work and dedication that Coach Roy has displayed over the years.

"Coach Roy's greatest quality continues to be his devotion to his profession and his work ethic.  The word 'quit' is not a part of his vocabulary," said Mulhern. "The value and knowledge of what he imparts on his student-athletes can't be captured in a drill, test or a quiz, however. One needs only to observe the growth and maturity of a young athlete as they progress through the program to understand that he is providing them with skills that will enable them to succeed in life."

Each coach chosen throughout the high school football season will receive a $2,000 donation from the Redskins Charitable Foundation to their football program and a framed certificate signed by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden, Redskins President Bruce Allen and General Manager Scot McCloughan, as well as other giveaway items from the Redskins Charitable Foundation and Inova Sports Medicine.
