Throughout this year, the Washington Commanders collaborated with various non-profit organizations, engaging in events and initiatives dedicated to our core principles: Education, Economic Advancement, Equity, Health and Wellness, and Human Rights.

G-Unity Inspire Change Dinner
On December 29th, 2023, in collaboration with the Washington Commanders, the G-Unity Foundation sponsored the Social Justice Trailblazer Award Dinner, recognizing nine individuals committed to fostering social justice and inspiring positive change in their communities. These trailblazers excelled in areas such as education, police and community relations, economic development, and criminal justice reform. Following extensive community voting, BJ Paige emerged as the 2024 Social Justice Trailblazer Award winner, receiving a $5,000 grant from the G-Unity Foundation.

National Museum of African American History and Culture with Everfi306 – Inspire Change Event
Concluding our untold stories series in anticipation of the annual Inspire Change game on December 12, 2024, a cohort of students from the Everfi 306 program embarked on a visit to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Accompanied by multiple Commanders alumni and Command Force, they had the unique opportunity to explore the museum, including a special exhibit featuring Washington Legend and Super Bowl XXII Champion, Doug Williams.

DC Native Tony Lewis Jr. Recognized As Commanders 2023 Inspire Change Changemaker Award Recipient
Tony Lewis Jr. was honored by the Washington Commanders on December 22nd, 2023, for his dedicated work over the past two decades supporting individuals re-entering society after incarceration and aiding children with incarcerated parents in the D.C. area. His efforts have significantly impacted criminal justice reform in the DMV, earning him the Inspire Changemaker Award, which acknowledges individuals making a difference in their communities across education, economic advancement, police-community relations, and criminal justice reform within each NFL team market.

2023 Inspire Change Game
The Washington Commanders held their yearly Inspire Change-themed game on Sunday, December 31 against the San Francisco 49ers. Inspire Change, the NFL's initiative, spotlights social justice efforts within the league and its grant partners to combat systemic racism and promote opportunity. The league's social justice initiatives concentrate on Education, Economic Advancement, Community-Police Relations, and Criminal Justice Reform.
