Super Bowl XVII MVP and our franchise's leading rusher John Riggins will have his No. 44 jersey retired on Nov. 8 vs. the Rams!
Known for his power and toughness as a workhorse ball carrier, Riggins is considered one of the greatest running backs of all time. He fought through challenge after challenge in his career and had a way of shining in the biggest moments. The Hall of Famer managed to get better as he got older, compiling his most impressive seasons while in his 30s for Washington.
Off the field, Riggins established "Riggo's Rangers", his foundation which, for decades, has supported military veterans. In 2025, he was honored with the inaugural Morty Gudelsky Community Hero Award for his commitment to giving back to underserved populations and causes in the Washington Metro region.
Join us during Week 9 as we honor the bright legacy of The Diesel!
