Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy is a generally reserved, soft-spoken person. So, to induce the screams and excitement he projected this week inside DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, you really need to amaze him.
Fortunately, pro golfer and fellow University of Texas alumnus Jhonattan Vegas was up for the task, joining McCoy before Dell Match Play began in Austin to engage in some golf trick-shot fun on McCoy's former home turf.
It didn't take long for Vegas to impress, holing a golf ball into a trash can about 50 yards away. McCoy tried to channel his quarterback precision into his iron game and came pretty close to nailing the shot, but couldn't match the pro.
"He's been beating me on the golf course since 2005," McCoy tells the camera.
Later, McCoy took over a remote-control car and attempted to catch Vegas's shots coming from the the grandstands of the stadium. Easier said than done. On the final attempt, the pair connected with the ball hit the hood of the car, ending their time in the Longhorns' house victorious.
McCoy promptly sprints around with his hands up, returning him to his college glory days.
The encounter marked another exciting Dell Match Play experience for McCoy, who made an appearance on The Golf Channel two years ago helping draw foursomes in the WGC Bracket Selection Show.
At this point, it's safe to assume that when late March rolls around, McCoy will be in Austin, golf shirt at the ready.
