The Washington Commanders have unveiled their new alternate "Super Bowl Era" uniforms and helmet, which pay homage to the franchise's most successful period, on the 93rd anniversary of the team's inception.
The uniforms and helmet will be worn three times during the 2025 season and make their debut on Nov. 2 during the team's Sunday Night Football matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. They will also be worn on Nov. 30 against the Denver Broncos and the team's Christmas Day game, which will stream on Netflix, against the Dallas Cowboys.
Tickets to those games can be purchased using the following links:
"We are excited to celebrate Washington's rich history with these iconic, Super Bowl Era uniforms this season," Commanders Team President Mark Clouse said via press release. "Ever since Josh Harris and our ownership group acquired the team back in 2023, they've placed great value in finding ways to connect the past and present and pay homage to those that made the Burgundy & Gold what it is today."
The uniform design draws inspiration from the ones Washington wore during all three of the franchise's Super Bowl wins in 1982, 1987 and 1991. The white jersey features burgundy numbers with gold outlines and gold stripes on the sleeves. The players' nameplates will have burgundy letters with the same gold outline. The burgundy pants and socks will include gold and white stripes.
The helmet will have the iconic look of the 1980s and 1990s alongside the team's current logo. It will have a gold face mask as well as white and gold stripes down the center of the helmet.
"These uniforms honor the most successful era of our franchise -- one that reflects a culture of excellence and encompasses many historical moments and special memories amongst our fanbase," Clouse said. "We look forward to bringing that nostalgic feeling back to fans, while incorporating a modern feel for our next generation of fans."
Officially licensed Super Bowl Era jerseys will be available for purchase in early September. Beginning on July 9, Fanatics will launch its "notify me" feature, where fans can sign up to receive notifications as to when the jerseys are available to order. Additionally, fans can now visit Store.Commanders.com, Fanatics.com and NFLShop.com to shop the Super Bowl Era helmets and other exclusive merchandise, which will launch on a rolling basis.
