DeSean Jackson Celebrates His Grandmother, Remembers His Father

Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson shared some love on Instagram to celebrate the birthdays of two family members.

First, for his grandmother, who turned 87 years old, and looks pretty good in that Redskins shirt.

"Happy 87th bday to my Gram .. Love her more than anything .. hope u enjoyed your day Gram you deserve it," Jackson captioned on Instagram, beneath photos of her dressed with a crown, flowers on the table and a birthday cake of Chobani yogurt.

On Tuesday, Jackson then paid tribute to his late father, Bill, who would have been celebrating his birthday.

"Happy Gday OG .. Miss ya % Not a day goes by I don't remember the great times we Had .. You prepared me 4 all this madness out here & the haters !! 1 love GoneButNeverForgotten," he captioned.

In a Q&A with Jackson during the season, the wide receiver said his father was like a mentor and a person that could always push him to get the most out of his ability.

"Anytime you feel like you couldn't do it or you really had a long day, a tough day, it just gave me extra motivation to feel like I could go out there and do whatever it is I wanted to do," Jackson said.

"It was tough [when he passed away in 2009]. Really, I was kind of lost for some years just trying to figure out where it is I wanted to go, why it had to be me. I hurt for a long period of time, but just kind of praying and knowing he was in a better place and he wasn't struggling any more helped me move on. Spiritually, I still look at it like he's still here, just not physically."

Bill's spirit still motivates Jackson and his impact is never far away.

"It really triggers my mentality, my mindset to whatever it is you want in life, you've got to go out there and work hard for it," Jackson said. "Nothing's going to be given to you. It's just one of those things growing up and not really having nothing and working to get what you want in life."
