The Duke football team, taking a break from its summer training, took a bus trip from Durham, N.C., to FedExField for Thursday night's Redskins-Lions preseason game.

Duke's head coach David Cutcliffe, realizing the potential to see three of his former players from last year – the Redskins' Jamison Crowder and Takoby Cofield and the Lions' Laken Tomlinson – thought it would be a good idea for a team bonding session to take in a professional football game, see some old teammates and sightsee Washington, D.C.

"When we saw this one [on the schedule], we jumped at it," Cutcliffe told The Detroit News. "It was important to them to do it because of the relationships that they have with Laken and Jamison and Takoby."

The players filed into the stadium early and walked down to greet Crowder and Cofield, two players that helped turn Duke's program around in the last couple of years.

Here were some highlights from their visit.
