Golf, like football, has always been a part of Washington Redskins wide receiver Evan Spencer's life.

"I've been playing as long as I can remember," he said Monday at the Inaugural Redskins Charity Golf Classic. "You know my dad got me a set of clubs when I was really young, so I mean I've probably been playing honestly as long as I've been playing football."

While the game of football requires teamwork and elite physical strength, golf is a little bit different.

"It's relaxing," Spencer admitted. "Especially when it's nice outside and in the summer, it's good to come out here and clear my head and go out and play golf. I love it, and I always have."

Over the last four years before being taken by the Redskins in the sixth round of the draft, Spencer, of course, was a do it all wide receiver for Ohio State.

And while you wouldn't necessary think of Ohio as a go-to for beautiful golf courses, Spencer said he played on some amazing courses in the state when he wasn't excelling on the gridiron.

"There is an unbelievable golf course in Ohio, believe it or not," he said. "Ohio is one of the best states for golf, surprisingly enough when it's nice there. They have a Memorial Tournament, which I'm going to next week. That course, Muirfield Village, is just gorgeous. I'm actively trying to get to play it, but you kind of got to know somebody to get on there. And there's a ton of private, really nice courses around, and Ohio State's course is even really awesome. It's really challenging, really long and really fun to play."
