Not to make anyone feel too old, but legendary Redskins cornerback Darrell Green turns 55 today.

A well-deserved fan favorite and Pro Football Hall of Famer, Green spent his 20-year career in Washington and lovingly became known as "Mr. Redskin." In his tenure, he collected two Super Bowl Trophies, seven Pro Bowl selections and four NFL Fastest Man competition titles.

Green, a first-round pick by the Redskins in 1983, began his career at cornerback with a lot of promise, taking a 61-yard punt return back for a touchdown, the first time he had touched the ball in the NFL.

Named the NFL's Man of the Year in 1996, Green has since instituted an academic foundation and oversees many business ventures. Over his 20 seasons, he established himself as one of the greatest Redskins and cornerbacks in NFL history, recording 54 career interceptions, six of which he returned for a touchdown.

"People always told me I was too short, or not good enough," Green said to his alma-mater Jones High School a few years ago. "But I listened to what my father told me which was that I was a good player and I was fast and look where that got me. Look how well I did. Let me be a lesson that you can do anything and don't let people bring you down."
