If you were anywhere in the vicinity of FedExField on Wednesday night, you had to have caught a whiff of the great aromas that wafted out of the building, as the team put on their "FedExField Taste of 2016" event.

Redskins fans and media got a chance to partake in some great eats, both on the club level and in the suites and loge area, as some of the best chefs in the greater Washington, D.C., area put together a seemingly infinite array of dishes that FedExField patrons will be able to enjoy this coming season.

You might want to have a napkin or paper towel handy, because Centerplate Executive Chef Marc Spooner gave everyone a sneak preview of some of the menu items that will be up for purchase this year during Redskins games.

"We have a lot of new, exciting offerings," Spooner said. "We're doing some comfort food, but with [a] twist. We have a waffle concept. We're doing a mac and cheese waffle, so it literally is mac and cheese inside a waffle, and then we don't stop there. We put a bacon cheddar sausage inside that, so it's a portable sandwich, so it's the best of both worlds."

If you thought that sounded good, just wait. Spooner and Centerplate have quite a bit more food to offer.

"We also have a red velvet waffle," Spooner said. "We're going to be putting fried chicken tenderloins in that, drizzled with maple syrup [and] powdered sugar. Again, portable [and] things that you normally wouldn't think would be easy to carry, but perfect for game time to walk around and eat like a breakfast food of sorts."

Also featured is the "hog dog," which is the creation of new local teammember Hoffman Meats. It'll be made of bacon, ham, sausage, and pulled pork.

Everyone who attended the event got a chance to vote on the best recipe for the "hog dog," which is sure to be one of the hits of the party during each and every Redskins home game.

In addition, the Redskins will be supporting the local community by working with numerous local vendors this season, including Caribbean Cove, Bob Hall Upper Marlboro, Devil's Backbone Craft Beer, Marybeth's Bakery, Lyons Bakery and Island Bwoy Cuisine.

"The Washington Redskins are committed to providing the best possible fan experience at FedExField," said Chris Bloyer, Senior Vice President, Stadium Operations and Guest Relations. "We paid close attention to suggestions from this past season and believe this new menu will enhance dining at our stadium."
