In addition to the five college free agents the Redskins signed from rookie minicamps on Monday, they also signed free agent linebacker Alonzo Highsmith.

Highsmith went undrafted in 2013 out of Arkansas, later signing with the Dolphins before getting cut prior to the season. The Chiefs signed him to a reserve/futures contract in 2014 but similarly released him prior to the season.

He most recently played for the Omaha Mammoths, a charter member of the Fall Experimental Football League, aiming to become a developmental league in the NFL.

While at Arkansas, where Highsmith transferred prior to his junior season, he tallied 80 tackles, 4.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one interception.

Before becoming a Razorback, he was selected as the NJCAA Region One co-Defensive Player of the Year while playing at Phoenix College.

He is also the son of former NFL running back Alonzo Highsmith.
