The accolades and accomplishments continue to pile up for linebacker Ryan Kerrigan this offseason.
In between another successful season -- in which he managed to play in all 16 games again to reach his third Pro Bowl -- and his wedding day this March, Kerrigan received some more exciting news from his alma mater.
Purdue University announced Kerrigan will be inducted into its Athletics Hall of Fame, a fitting award for the 2010 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year. He'll join six other Boilermakers to make up the class, which will be honored on May 10 in Indianapolis.
Kerrigan, a unanimous All-American in his senior season, earned four letters from 2007-2010 as well as numerous awards, including Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year, along with being a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award, Rotary Lombardi Award and Ronnie Lott IMPACT Trophy.
"Just wanted to say how honored I am to be inducted into the Purdue Athletics Hall of Fame," Kerrigan said on Twitter. "To be considered one of the greatest athletes to have gone through this great university means a lot to me."
The Muncie, Ind., native has started every game of his seven-year career in Washington. His 71.5 career sacks rank third in Redskins history.
