What many consider "the forgotten classic," the 1983 NFC Championship game between the Redskins and the 49ers is now a part of's fourth-annual Bracketology, which seeks to determine the greatest NFL game of all time.

The Redskins nail-biting finish, a 24-21 victory at RFK Stadium, is represented as a No. 8 seed in the Dynasty Makers bracket, squaring off against the Cowboys-49ers 1981 NFC Championship game.

Defending their Super Bowl victory the year before, the Redskins, under legendary head coach Joe Gibbs, along with quarterback Joe Theismann, running back John Riggins and wide receiver Charlie Brown, began strong with 21-0 lead.

The 49ers responded and tied the game late in the fourth quarter before the Redskins drove down the field to set up a Mark Moseley game-clinching field goal.
