This week, our rookie class embarked on a bus tour to visit the historical sights of Washington D.C. As a part of the Rookie Community Club, the goal of this trip was to introduce the players to their new home in the Nation's Capital and to pay tribute to our Nation's history. The tour highlighted the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial, where players were offered the chance to interact with the community and be present in the spaces where Martin Luther King Jr.'s impact on social justice has lead us to today. Last week, the Washington Commanders hosted Doug Herbert's B.R.A.K.E.S training program at FedExField for rookies and veterans to learn important safety skills on the road. On Tuesday, April 26th, Washington Commanders co-owner and co-CEO Tanya Snyder, Head Coach Ron Rivera and his wife Stephanie Rivera and Commanders players Jonathan Allen and Jamin Davis teamed up with USO to hand deliver care packages to troops at BWI airport just before they board the plane for deployment. The USO2GO Packs handed out today were packaged during the Commander's packaging event held on March 10th at FedExField, when the team and USO together packed 4,0000 Care Packages comprising more than 24,000 items for troops. On Saturday, April 23 and Sunday April 24, the Washington Commanders Entertainment Team held open auditions for the 2022 season at FedExField. At the end of the weekend, the panel of judges selected the first-ever Commanders Entertainment team -- a group of 44 individuals made up of dancers, gymnasts, Beat Ya Feet dancers, breakers and more who will perform at all Commanders home games and participate in year-round community and team events across D.C., Maryland and Virginia. The Washington Football Charitable Foundation partnered with EverFi and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington to bring an African American History program (known as Everfi306) to students in the DC metro area. The Program Kickoff featured a surprise visit from Washington Football Team alumni Tim Hightower and Joshua Morgan. To close out the evening, the two special guests participated in a Q&A session with Club kids. Opening up about societal messages they received growing up, Hightower and Morgan provided insight into how a program like Everfi306 helps to change a limiting narrative and expand the dreams of those in young Black communities.
Washington Contributes $75k to the City of Richmond's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities
The city will use the funding to support its renovation project of Hotchkiss Field Community Center which provides a variety of programs for children and young adults in the area. The Washington Football Charitable Foundation surprised young athletes with brand new sporting equipment and more.
2021 Gatorade Junior Training Camp
The Washington Football Charitable Foundation and Gatorade teamed up to host the Gatorade Junior Training Camp at Bon Secours Washington Football Team Training Center in Richmond, VA. 100+ young athletes participated in a morning of football fundamentals and skill development with Washington Football Alumni leading each activity station.

The 18th Annual Harvest Feast presented by Ryan Homes serves as our pre-Thanksgiving food distribution event for Prince George's County residents in need. This event is made possible through the generosity of our partners and sponsors, specifically, Ryan Homes, Safeway, Bank of America, Capital Area Food Bank, PepsiCo, Prince George's County Department Social Services and the Washington Football Charitable Foundation. On Monday November 16, volunteers assisted in assembling 7,500 bags of dry goods, perishables and beverages that were distributed to 2,500 families the following day, Tuesday, November 17 through a drive-thru, safe and contactless format. The Washington Football Charitable Foundation hosted its first-ever Back to School Drive-Thru event in partnership with Heart of America on Friday, August 21. The drive-thru event provided goods and services for children with identified need in the D.C. Metro Area to prepare them and their families for the upcoming school year. This event served 1,000+ children between the ages of 6 -11 (1st grade through 5th grade). The distribution day event was made possible by the generosity of our partners Heart of America, Safeway, Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington, United Way of the National Capital Area, TeamSmile and the Cut.

On Thursday, August 20th the Charitable Foundation and volunteers from our partnering organizations, created educational supply kits for children to prepare for this upcoming school year. The educational supply kits were packed with school supplies, PPE, dental hygiene items, a haircut voucher, a voucher for two (2) free prescription eyeglasses and an individualized snack package. The packaging event was made possible by the generosity of our partners, Heart of America, Safeway, Prevention of Blindness of Metropolitan of Washington, United Way of the National Capital Area, TeamSmile and the Cut.
