Each winner is awarded a $2,000 donation for their program, an invitation to a season-end celebration at a Commanders home game, and eligibility for the Don Shula NFL Coach of the Year nomination.
High School Girls Flag Coach of the Year: KC Landefeld, Clarksburg High School
Coach KC Landefeld was selected as the Washington Commanders Girls Flag "Coach of the Year". Landefeld led Clarksburg to a 10–0 regular-season record, and a dominant postseason run, winning the Montgomery County Championship, the 3A/4A state semifinal, and the state championship, earning the title of back-to-back Maryland Girls Flag 3A/4A State Champions.
Coach Landefeld also led the Coyotes to a State Championship in his first year (2024), finishing the season 16–1 after winning 16 straight games. He has built a strong program through structured practices, focused skill development, team-building, and high expectations delivered with a calm and adaptable leadership style. He supports his players on and off the field—providing snacks, reviewing film, promoting academic success, and emphasizing sportsmanship and school pride. Coach Landefeld also prioritizes health and safety through proper warm-ups, hydration, and required equipment, creating a positive, well-rounded environment for his student athletes.
