Jay Gruden earns his first win as head coach as the defense runs wild in a 41-10 home win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The unit tied a team record with 10 sacks, including a team-record-tying four-sack effort from linebacker Ryan Kerrigan.

Gruden Era: Washington hires Jay Gruden as the new head coach of the Redskins. Gruden – the former offensive coordinator with the Cincinnati Bengals – replaces Mike Shanahan, who posted a 24-40 record with one playoff appearance in four seasons with the team.

Sticky Fingers: Wide receiver Pierre Garçon breaks Art Monk's record for catches in a season as a member of the Washington Redskins. Garçon caught 11 passes in the Redskins 24-23 loss to the Dallas Cowboys to bring his total to 107, and finished the season with an NFL-best 113 receptions.
