On his thoughts on the Redskins' 16-13 overtime win over the Green Bay Packers:
"You take a game like that where, offensively, you couldn't get anything going. We couldn't get any momentum going, but we hung in there and were able to make some plays there in the fourth quarter and obviously overtime. Our defense gave up some yards early, kind of collected their poise and really played one heck of a football game. Unless you have a lot of character on your team, usually you don't win games like that – too many mistakes, especially early. As I told our football team, we're very proud of the way they handled themselves, the way they kept on fighting – no finger pointing. At any point in the game, you could tell that they were all going in the same direction and it really felt great about trying to win one."

On what goes through his mind in a tight game:
"Well you take a look and we had some opportunities, and that's encouraging. I looked out there, and we had 11 guys playing together. One break down here, one break down there and all of a sudden you're not moving the ball very successfully. We had some opportunities and we didn't take advantage of them, but they key is to come back, take advantage of those opportunities late in the game, make some plays and that's the difference in there."

On the performance of quarterback Donovan McNabb:"I think that instead of putting a lot of pressure on him with the running game, we said, 'We're going to give you the chance to go three plays in a row and throw it.' Instead of kind of mixing it up like we were doing through most of the game, we gave him the opportunity to throw a bad ball and get in more of a rhythm. I think it helped him out."

On the veteran leadership of quarterback Donovan McNabb:
"Well, part of the quarterback play is to look at yourself very critically, and I think Donovan will. At the same time, he also understands that you've got to find a way to win and he made those plays when he needed to make them. But you go back and you take a look at a lot of passes and say, 'Hey, if I had read a little bit quicker or if I had looked here or looked there' – it's a combination of different things. The great quarterbacks are never satisfied unless they throw every one complete and hopefully Donovan will do that and get better with our offense as time goes on."

On the Redskins' defense:
"I looked up at the scoreboard and, I think it was not even the second quarter, and they had 200-some yards and I think we had 20. They got on us early, got that big run, got a little momentum going, then we had a goal-line stand and we started playing consistently for the rest of the game."

On tackle Trent Williams' return to the game after a knee injury:
"I thought he was out for sure. I thought it was serious, really serious. For right now, we're keeping our fingers crossed. I don't think there was any structural damage to either Jammal [Brown] or Trent, so that's a good sign."

On the performance of wide receivers Joey Galloway and Anthony Armstrong:"You really don't know, it all depends on the coverages they're in. The quarterback went with more of a three wide receiver set and some guys getting more opportunities when they started double-teaming Santana [Moss]. It's always nice to see them catch a few balls and get a little confidence going."

On the defensive goal-line stand:
"It was the difference in the game, obviously. They went for it on fourth-and-one early and, you know, all of a sudden it's 14 points instead of seven, I felt that was a key to the game."

On the performance of safety LaRon Landry:
"He amazes me, to be honest with you. I've been around a lot of football players in my career, and to watch a guy play that hard and that consistent week after week. It's only the fifth game of the season, but he's fast, he's a hitter and he loves to play. It's a pleasure to watch him and he's that way every snap – obviously, a great football player."

On the identity of the Redskins:
"I think if you take a look at the offenses I've run, I think you know the identity. What is our identity right now? Well, it's not very good because we're not as consistent as I'd like to be, both in the running game and the passing game, but that's what we're working on. We're working to get better and by working to get better, you start finding ways to win and I thought we were able to do that today."

On the reasoning behind keeping Anthony Armstrong and Brandon Banks active:"I think the reason we brought both guys up was because of speed. Armstrong's got great speed and so does Banks. You have to ask them to make plays and this game, you know, both guys showed some spark today."

On the performance of the special teams:"Our special teams, they take a lot of pride in, really, all there is. They had that one punt return but, other than that, I was pleased. No one had tackled that football team inside of the 20 all year. We made some plays early and we had a group of guys playing together and, if we keep on working like that, we'll get some touchdowns on kickoff returns, punt returns just to head our way. There were a couple penalties that really set us back, or we would have had a great day."

On the impact of the Packers' defense:
"I felt like they got to us pretty good throughout the game. We threw a little bit quicker there at the end, got the ball out and I knew they were going to have to play more of an eight-man front there at the end to try to keep us out of field goal range. Maybe we threw the ball a little bit quicker, have a little bit different routes just because of the coverage they were playing."

On the impact of quarterback Donovan McNabb's mobility:"Sometimes a mobile quarterback will cause you sacks, other times he won't. When somebody can't run, a lot of times they know they've got to dump the ball off. Sometimes, with those great athletes, they'll stay in the pocket a little bit longer than they can and not anticipate the throw. What we like our quarterbacks to do is take a look at it and be very tough on themselves and say, 'Could I have thrown that quicker? Did I need to get out of the pocket?' All of those things go into the quarterback evaluation."

On the release of wide receiver Devin Thomas:"I sat down and talked to Devin many times and told him what he needed to do to be a pro football player, both on and off of the football field. And if he does do that, both on and off of the football field, he'll have a chance to play in the National Football League, but until he does that.… He's got the talent, he sure does, but he's going to have to commit to being a pro."

On the performance of running back Ryan Torain:
"I think he did a good job. I thought they [the Packer's defense] did a great job too. Statistically, they were giving up over five yards a carry and I thought they did a great job coming in there playing and slowing us down with our running game. We had to throw a little bit more in the second half just to get that rhythm and I thought he helped us out."
