My Cause My Cleats - Ryan Kerrigan

In 2015, Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan implemented his first Kerrigan's Korner in the Children's National Medical Center. The Korner offered "patients and their family members access to electronics during hospital stays [and] serve as a source of entertainment, a portal for communication and a diversion during treatment and recovery," according to the foundation's website.

As of May 2018, there are now nine Kerrigan's Korners, and he continues to work toward making a positive impact on the lives of seriously ill, special needs and physically challenged children.

"We've got quite a few now and it really is such a novel concept, but it really means a lot to the families and the kids because it takes their minds off being in the hospital. It's been a cool thing," Kerrigan said.

Besides installing Korners, Kerrigan's foundation provides support through events and programs in the greater Washington D.C., area. While he's been able to make an impact on the lives of many, seeing their happiness has left an even greater impact on him.

"It's been a special thing," Kerrigan said. "Just to see the new faces at each event and you realize that, 'Okay, we're making an impact and the impact's continuing to grow.'"
