After the Redskins released Cullen Jenkins earlier this month following a week stint in Washington, the 35-year-old is back on the team and on the active roster.

The Washington Redskins are bringing back veteran defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins after his short stint with the team in the preseason, signing the free agent on Wednesday.

The Washington Redskins on Monday announced the signing of veteran defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins. Take a look at his career in photos.

Jenkins, 35, was signed by the Redskins on Aug. 29 and appeared in Washington's preseason finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, recording three tackles and a sack on 18 defensive snaps. He would be released days later, though, as the Redskins sized down their roster to 53 players.

A 13-year veteran out of Central Michigan, the 6-foot-2, 305-pound Jenkins has totaled 332 tackles with 47.5 sacks and eight fumbles forced.

He's split his career between the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants.

Jenkins has also proven durable through the majority of his career, as he's played in all 16 regular season games in eight times including in 2015 when he recorded 26 tackles with three sacks for the Giants.

Part of Jenkins' appeal to the Redskins is his ability to play all three defensive line positions, with experience to boot.

"He's played three-technique, he's played nose [tackle], he's played the 'four', he's played the 'five,'" Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said of Jenkins last month. "He's played a little bit of everything in his career. He's in good shape. We worked him out today. We wanted to see in what kind of shape he was, what type of body he had right now. He looked like he was good. He moved around good. Got to get his legs back under him out here at practice, get a good look at him, and we'll make a decision. But to add a veteran player of that caliber I think is a good thing."

With Jenkins returning to Washington, the Redskins move forward with seven defensive lineman.

Kedric Golston, Chris Baker, Ziggy Hood and Ricky Jean Francois are listed as starters on the team's unofficial depth chart while Kendall Reyes and Anthony Lanier are also in the fold.
