The NFL has announced the slate of preseason games for 2009, and Washington is scheduled to match up against teams that have won six of the last nine Super Bowls.

The Redskins open preseason at Baltimore on Thursday, Aug. 13. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.

It's the fourth time in the last five years that the Redskins and Ravens have faced off in preseason.

In Week 2, the Redskins host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Aug. 22 in the preseason home opener at FedExField.

Washington's third preseason game is Friday, Aug. 28, against the New England Patriots, also at FedExField.

The Redskins-Patriots matchup is a nationally televised contest on CBS. Kickoff is 8 p.m. ET.

The Redskins close preseason with a road game at Jacksonville on Sept. 3.

The first, second and fourth preseason games will be broadcast locally on NBC-4 and Comcast SportsNet.

REDSKINS 2009 PRESEASON SCHEDULE
Dates Opponent Time
August 13 @ Baltimore Ravens 7:30 p.m. ET
August 22 Pittsburgh Steelers 7:30 p.m. ET
August 28 New England Patriots 8 p.m. ET (CBS)
September 3 @ Jacksonville Jaguars 7:30 p.m. ET

At first glace, it appears the Redskins' preseason schedule is a difficult one.

Baltimore and Pittsburgh were in the AFC Championship game last season, with the Steelers going on to win Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa.

The Ravens defeated the Redskins 24-10 last year at M&T Bank Stadium and the Steelers handled the Redskins 23-6 at FedExField.

New England lost quarterback Tom Brady to injury last season but still won 11 games. Brady could be back in the lineup for the Redskins-Patriots preseason matchup.

The Jaguars defeated the Redskins 24-3 last preseason but struggled to a 5-11 record in the regular season.
