Redskins Sign Tackle Geron Christian Sr.

The Washington Redskins' entire 2018 draft class is under contract.

After signing seven of their eight draft picks last month, the Redskins announced today that they have signed third-round tackle Geron Christian Sr.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Christian, 21, was selected by the Redskins with the No. 74-overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The 6-foot-5, 298 pounder joins the Redskins are spending three seasons at Louisville, where he started all 39 of his appearances for the Cardinals.

During his freshman season in 2015, the 6-foot-5, 298 pounder was the only offensive lineman to start every game, earning an All-ACC honorable mention selection in the process.

As a sophomore, meanwhile, he protected Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Lamar Jackson on an offense that averaged more than 40 points and 500 yards of offense per game.

Then last season, Christian once again earned an honorable mention nod from the ACC before entering the NFL Draft.

While the Redskins already have multiple high-end tackles on the roster including six-time Pro Bowler Trent Williams, Christian's addition to the roster gives Washington a young tackle that can provide depth on both sides of the line.

"We will keep him at the swing tackle," said Redskins head coach Jay Gruden in April. "You know, what we went through at tackle last year was catastrophic with all the injuries and still a lot of these guys are recovering from their injuries. Trent is recovering still, Morgan [Moses] is still recovering, Ty [Nsekhe] is still recovering, we have T.J. [Clemmings] still recovering. So we need depth at tackle.

"He's a great, young tackle. He's one of the best pass blocking tackles in this draft in my opinion. He plays left and right side and will provide ample depth for that position, a position that you can never have too many of."

Christian was part of Washington's eight-man draft class, joining defensive linemen Daron Payne and Tim Settle, running back Derrius Guice, safety Troy Apke, linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton, cornerback Greg Stroman and wide receiver Trey Quinn.
