Based on their 5-11 record, the Redskins will have the sixth overall pick in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft.

It's the third time in four years that the Redskins will have a top 10 pick in the draft. It's also the highest pick Washington has had since 2004, when the Redskins selected safety Sean Taylor with the fifth overall pick in the first round.

The 2007 NFL Draft is scheduled for April 28-29 in New York City.

The Oakland Raiders, with a 2-14 record, have the first overall pick in the draft, followed by the 3-13 Detroit Lions.

Cleveland and Tampa Bay are tied for the third overall pick in the draft. Both clubs finished with 4-12 records and their strength of schedule was an identical .535.

That means a coin flip will determine which club gets the third pick. The loser of the coin flip will have the fourth overall pick.

The Arizona Cardinals, also with a record of 5-11, will pick fifth. Their strength of schedule was .500, while the Redskins' strength of schedule was .512.

The rest of the top 10 on the draft board has the Minnesota Vikings picking seventh, the Houston Texans selecting eighth, the Miami Dolphins picking ninth and the Atlanta Falcons selecting 10th.

Washington will also have draft picks in the fifth, sixth and seventh rounds.

The team has traded away its picks in the second, third and fourth rounds to acquire players.

The exact draft order for later rounds cannot be determined yet because the NFL gives compensation picks for teams that lose players in free agency the previous year.
