Biography

The Washington Commanders selected running back Brian Robinson Jr. in the third round (No. 98 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Robinson (6-1, 225) is the 100th running back selected by Washington in franchise history. He is the 505th selection made by Washington in the Common Draft era (since 1967) and the 21st third round running back selection made by the team since the institution of the draft in 1936. He is the 70th third-round selection in franchise history.

Robinson played in 66 games at the University of Alabama from 2017-21 and rushed 545 times for 2,704 yards and 29 touchdowns. He added 52 receptions for 446 yards and two touchdowns.

As a senior in 2021, Robinson rushed 271 times for 1,343 yards and 14 touchdowns. He added 35 receptions for 296 yards and two touchdowns. He was named to the All-SEC First-Team by the conference coaches and was named a Reese's Bowl All-American. His 14 rushing touchdowns were the most by a running back in the SEC and his 16 total touchdowns were the 20th most in the nation.

As a junior, Robinson played in 13 games and rushed 91 times for 483 yards and six touchdowns. He added six receptions for 26 yards.

Robinson is the 27th Alabama player drafted by Washington and the second in the 2022 NFL draft joining second round selection, defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis. It is the second draft in three seasons that Washington has taken a running back in the third round. He is the first Alabama running back ever selected by Washington. The club selected full back Lowell Tew back in 1948.

A native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Robinson attended Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa and was rated an unanimous four-star recruit.
