Sammy Baugh is widely considered to be one of the greatest Washington players of all time, appearing in 165 games in his 16 year career. He was a "three-way" player, having a role on offense, defense, and special teams. After setting numerous NFL and Washington records, Baugh was inducted to the 1963 Hall of Fame. Simply put, they don't make them like Sammy anymore.

Sonny Jurgensen

Sonny Jurgensen

If there was ever one Washington quarterback that could be labeled as 'beloved', it was Sonny Jurgensen. His picture-perfect passing and poise under pressure garnered the praise of fans and coaches alike, including Vince Lombardi who said Sonny is the "best he has ever seen" during his one-year coaching stint with Washington. After retiring, Sonny continued to be a figure for the franchise as a TV and radio analyst and personality.

Bobby Mitchell

Bobby Mitchell

Bobby Mitchell was a versatile receiver and halfback who spent the latter half of his career in Washington. He was a serious yardage threat on both the rushing and passing sides of the ball, and never caught fewer than 58 passes in his first 6 seasons with the team.

Sean Taylor

Sean Taylor

A top five pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, Sean Taylor is regarded as one of the best safeties in league history. He was already a household name before his life was tragically cut short in November 2007 during just his fourth year in the league. He was known for his hard-hitting playstyle and uncanny ability to read offenses. Today, the stands of Commanders Field are still filled with countless "#21" jerseys, demonstrating his lasting impact on the fan base.
