Buzbee Joins Roster From Practice Squad

The Redskins have signed rookie defensive end Alex Buzbee to the active roster and placed linebacker Rocky McIntosh on injured reserve, the team announced on Tuesday.

McIntosh suffered a knee injury in the team's 22-10 victory over the Giants last Sunday.

In addition, the Redskins have waived cornerback John Eubanks, who played in four games this season but suffered a toe infection last week.

Buzbee, 6-3 and 265 pounds, is in his first NFL season out of Georgetown University. He signed with the Redskins last offseason as a rookie free agent and has spent the entire season on the team's practice squad.

Buzbee had a strong career at Georgetown, finishing as a four-year starter at defensive end and totaling 27.5 sacks, which ranked second all-time in school history.

With Eubanks released, the Redskins have a vacant roster spot. It's expected that the team will fill the roster spot on Thursday.

-- WEDNESDAY WALK-THROUGH

With the Redskins experiencing a rash of injuries at several positions, Joe Gibbs opted to hold a walk-through session on Wednesday instead of a full-scale practice.

The team will return to its normal practice schedule on Thursday, Gibbs said.

"We went through all of our meetings and then we went through everything from a walk-through standpoint," Gibbs said. "I felt like Sunday night [against the Giants] was a real emotional and physical game, so I wanted to give them some extra rest. I talked it over with them."

Clinton Portis and Santana Moss were sick on Wednesday morning with a stomach virus and were sent home, Gibbs said.

-- PRACTICE SQUAD: TWO ADDITIONS

With the promotion of Sam Hollenbach and Alex Buzbee to the 53-man roster in the last week, the Redskins had two available spots on the practice squad.

On Wednesday, the Redskins signed rookie defensive end Tommy Davis from the University of North Carolina and first-year linebacker Danny Verdun-Wheeler from the University of Georgia.
