Decisions Are In: Redskins Sign Six

More than 50 Redskin hopefuls came to Rookie Camp last weekend as certifiable long-shots. By Monday, six of them had completed the first step of their NFL dream.

Following the three-day Rookie Camp, the Redskins agreed to terms with six undrafted free agents on Monday.

  • Jon Alston, OL, South Carolina
  • Adrian Gonzalez, OL, Louisiana Tech
  • Pedro Holiday, WR, Middle Tennessee State
  • Charles Howard, DE, Florida State
  • Zak Keasey, LB, Princeton
  • Dominique Richardson, OL, Howard

Of that group, Keasey could be the most intriguing since he's coming out of the Ivy League. The 6-1, 230-pounder logged 127 tackles last year for Princeton, earning him second-team All American honors. His final collegiate game featured a career-best 22 tackles.

Howard is a 6-3, 265-pound defensive lineman who has experience playing both end and tackle. Last season, he recorded 17 tackles and five sacks for the Seminoles.

Holiday is a 6-1, 182-pound speedster who starred at track and field at Middle Tennessee State. As a reserve wide receiver last season, Holiday logged 16 catches for 176 yards and one touchdown.

The three offensive linemen signed to the roster are all sizable athletes. Alston is 6-5 and 306 pounds, Gonzalez is 6-5 and 328 pounds and Richardson is 6-4 and 301 pounds.

To make room for the six newcomers, the Redskins released the following players on Monday: defensive back Ray Custis, offensive linemen Dan Goodspeed, Brett Hodge and Scott Paffrath, wide receiver Tiger Jones and linebacker Devin Lemons.
