Griffin III Wins A Pair Of Week 12 Awards

Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III continues to add to his trophy case, winning his fourth NFL Rookie of the Week award and his second FedEx Air Player of the Week.

NFL Rookie of the Week:

Voters on NFL.com have made their choice.  Quarterback Robert Griffin III of the Washington Redskins is the NFL Rookie of the Week for Week 12, the NFL announced today.

Griffin III completed 20-of-28 passes for 311 yards and four touchdowns in the Redskins' 38-31 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. 

Griffin III was selected from among five finalists through fan votes on NFL.com/rookies. It is his fifth award of the season and sixth for the Redskins.  The Redskins are 5-1 in games where they win the award, 6-0 for Griffin III.

The other finalists were teammate Alfred Morris, Indianapolis Colts' wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson and Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

After the regular season, five players will be nominated for NFL Rookie of the Year honors.  Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/rookies throughout the month of January. 

The NFL Rookie of the Year will be announced at the second annual "NFL Honors" awards show in New Orleans on Saturday, February 2, the night before Super Bowl XLVII.

FedEx Air Player Of The Week:

The NFL announced today that quarterback Robert Griffin III of the Washington Redskins was named the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week for Week 12. 

Griffin III was selected from among three finalists in the Air category. The other FedEx Air NFL Players of the Week finalists were quarterbacks Tom Brady (New England Patriots) and Eli Manning (New York Giants).

This was Griffin III's second award of the season, following his debut performance against the New Orleans Saints in Week 1.

Fans voted for more than their favorite players. The weekly FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Awards are also a win for local communities. Along with the player awards, FedEx is making a $2,000 donation in each of the winning players' names to the local area offices of Junior Achievement in Washington D.C. and Houston.

The funding is used to help U.S. small business development, by educating the next generation of entrepreneurs on how to start and grow their own businesses.

During the week leading up to Super Bowl XLVII, FedEx plans to announce the 2012 FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Year in New Orleans, as well as make a $25,000 donation in each winning player's name to Junior Achievement offices in the their city.
