Moore Opens Season On PUP List

As expected, safety Kareem Moore will open the regular season on the Redskins' physically unable to perform list.

As a result, Moore is not eligible to play for the first six weeks of the season.

Moore has been slowed by a knee injury since the beginning of training camp. He did not play in any preseason games.

"When you're on the PUP list, you ask him when he feels he's 100 percent or close to it," head coach Mike Shanahan said. "Giving him more time is what it amounts to."

Moore is expected to serve in a reserve role in 2011. He started a career-high 11 games last year.

The Redskins opted to keep four safeties on the 53-man roster announced on Saturday evening.

Oshiomogho Atogwe and LaRon Landry are the expected starters with Reed Doughty and rookie DeJon Gomes serving as backups until Moore is ready to be activated.
