News & Notes: Golston Sidelined vs. Dallas, Jarmon to Play

Defensive end Kedric Golston has been ruled out of Sunday's game vs. Dallas.

Golston sat out practice last week with a groin injury suffered last Sunday vs. Tampa Bay. He has also been slowed in recent weeks by an elbow injury.

Vonnie Holliday is listed as the backup to Golston and he could draw the starting assignment on Sunday.

Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett said this week that second-year player Jeremy Jarmon could see significant playing time as well.

"He's going to play," defensive coordinator Jim Haslett said. "He'll play some this week. He might play a lot this week. Again, we're still trying to win the game, but we're going to try to get these guys in so we can take a look at them."

Jarmon, coming off of a knee ligament injury suffered last year, has played in just two games this season. He has recorded four tackles, all in the Week 6 game vs. Indianapolis.

Jarmon said he was "definitely excited" to get back on the field this week in Dallas.

Inactive for the last seven games, Jarmon has quietly worked on refining his game. He said he has improved at technique, including hand placement, and studied film to better adjust to pre-snap reads.

"It was difficult [to be inactive for so long]," he said. "But anybody who knows me well knows that I'm used to a little adversity and I like a good challenge. That's what this weekend in Dallas is going to be – a good challenge."

The Redskins are taking a closer look at nose tackle Anthony Bryant on defense in the final weeks.

Bryant saw increased playing time in place of Ma'ake Kemoeatu in last Sunday's game vs. Tampa Bay. He recorded one tackle.

"I thought he played pretty well," defensive coordinator Jim Haslett said. "He played a little high [in technique] but for the most part I thought he did a nice job in there. He'll get more time as the weeks go on here."
