The Redskins have signed veteran linebacker Chris Draft, the team announced on Friday.

Draft is expected to be on hand for the Redskins' second mini-camp.

Draft is a 12-year veteran who has played for six NFL teams, most recently with the Buffalo Bills. He played the bulk of his career with the Atlanta Falcons from 2000-04, when he established himself as a starting-caliber linebacker.

For his career, Draft has played in 150 games, with 88 starts, and posted 476 tackles 16 sacks, five interceptions and six forced fumbles.

With Buffalo last season, Draft saw action in 11 games, with three starts. He registered 43 tackles and interception on defense and added five stops on special teams.

In 2007-08, Draft started 16-of-28 games with the St. Louis Rams. He played under Jim Haslett, who was the Rams' defensive coordinator and interim head coach during that time. Haslett is now the Redskins' defensive coordinator

The 5-11, 234-pounder had his best season in 2006 as a member of the Carolina Panthers. He started all 16 games and logged 107 tackles, a career-high 5.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Draft, a native of Placentia, Calif., entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft choice of the Chicago Bears in 1998. He played college football at Stanford.
