Redskins Add Veteran OT Fabini

The Redskins continue to look for ways to add depth to their offensive line and on Monday the team announced the signing of veteran offensive lineman Jason Fabini, the former Dallas Cowboy.

The 6-7, 309-pound Fabini is a 10-year NFL veteran who signed with Dallas prior to the 2006 season.

Last year he played in 15 regular-season games for Dallas in a reserve role.

Prior to his tenure in Dallas, Fabini played nine seasons (1998-2005) with the New York Jets. He's played in 129 regular-season games, starting 114.

Fabini originally was selected by the Jets in the fourth round (111th overall) of the 1998 NFL Draft.

He played his college ball at the University of Cincinnati, where he was a three-time All Conference USA selection.

Fabini, a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was a key blocker for the Jets during some of the big years turned in by running back Curtis Martin.

Fabini played for head coach Bill Parcells with both the Jets and Cowboys.

In effect, the Redskins and Cowboys have flip-flopped offensive linemen this offseason, with Jim Molinaro heading to Dallas and Fabini joining the Redskins.

Fabini saw action in a reserve capacity for Dallas in both Redskins-Cowboys games last year, including the dramatic 22-19 Washington win at FedExField on Nov. 5.
