Redskins Place Marcus Washington On IR

The Washington Redskins announced Dec. 23 they have placed linebacker Marcus Washington on injured reserve and signed fullback Nehemiah Broughton to the active roster from the practice squad.

Washington is nursing a knee injury and was downgraded on the Redskins injury report Friday to out. He had played in every game since joining the Redskins as a free agent in 2004. He currently ranks second on the team in tackles this season with 106 stops, 2.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Broughton is in his second NFL season after being selected by the Redskins in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL Draft from The Citadel. He played in a total of four games during his rookie season and has spent this season on the Redskins practice squad.

Broughton will wear number 30.
