Redskins Re-sign Rock Cartwright

The Washington Redskins announced March 19 they have re-signed running back Rock Cartwright. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Cartwright has excelled on special teams during his four seasons with the Redskins and as a bruising back adding depth in the Redskins backfield.

Cartwright, 5-7 and 223 pounds, was selected by the Redskins in the sixth round (257th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft. In 2005, he appeared in all 16 regular season games and both postseason contests, finishing third on the team in special teams tackles with 22.

Cartwright enjoyed his most prolific game as a running back at St. Louis in Week 14 when he rushed for a career-high 118 yards on nine carries, including a career-long of 52 yards.

To date, the former Kansas State standout has appeared in 59 games with three starts and has carried the ball 139 times for 632 yards and six touchdowns. He also has 320 yards on 31 receptions and a score.
