Redskins Sign DB Fox, Waive Lumsden

The Redskins announced Aug. 29 that they have signed defensive back Vernon Fox. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

In addition, the Redskins announced that they have released defensive back Dimitri Patterson and running back Jesse Lumsden.

Fox, 5-10, 200, is in his fifth NFL season out of Fresno State. He spent the past two seasons with the Detroit Lions as a safety and key contributor on special teams.

Fox originally signed with San Diego as a rookie free agent in 2002. He has played in a total of 56 games with five starts in his four-year NFL career.
