The first weekend of August 2008 promises to be a Hall of Fame celebration for the Redskins and fans.

Art Monk and Darrell Green are both slated for induction into the Hall of Fame on Saturday, Aug. 2, in Canton, Ohio.

And on Sunday, Aug. 3, the Redskins and Indianapolis Colts will play in the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game.

The game, scheduled for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff, will be televised nationally on NBC. Ticket information will be available in late March.

It's the second time in five years that the Redskins will play in the Hall of Fame Game. In 2004, Hall of Fame coach Joe Gibbs made his return to the sidelines in the Redskins' 20-17 win over the Denver Broncos in the Hall of Fame Game.

With the Hall of Fame Game on the schedule, the Redskins will play five preseason games in 2008. The rest of the preseason schedule will be announced in April.

New Redskins head coach Jim Zorn will make his debut on the sidelines at Canton, Ohio.

Washington is a perfect 4-0 in Hall of Fame Games.

Indianapolis has a 2-1 record all-time.

The game caps a weekend in which six NFL greats will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Along with Monk and Green, the Class of 2008 includes defensive end Fred Dean, cornerback Emmitt Thomas, linebacker Andre Tippett and tackle Gary Zimmerman.

The Redskins have another Hall of Fame connection with Thomas, who was a Redskins assistant coach under Gibbs from 1986-94.
