Theismann Honored Before Dolphins Game

Redskins great Joe Theismann was honored prior to Sunday's Redskins-Miami Dolphins season opener at FedExField.

The celebration was part of the franchise's 75th anniversary.

Theismann, of course, was the Redskins' quarterback from 1974-85. He helped the Redskins to a Super Bowl XVII victory over Miami in 1982.

Theismann is the franchise's all-time passing yardage leader with 25,206 passing yards.

He also holds a number of team records, including most career pass attempts (3,602), most career pass completions (2,044) and most consecutive passes without an interception (162).

Theismann celebrated his birthday on 58th birthday on Sunday.

The Redskins will honor one of the team's legends prior to each home game this season.

In addition, all fans attending Sunday's season opener against the Miami Dolphins will received a DVD copy of "75 Years of Redskins Football: Built on Tradition," which highlights the great moments in Redskins history,
