Biography

I am an African American Austin-based visual artist from Prince George's County, Maryland. At a young age, I was encouraged to express myself in an artistic fashion. It wasn't until I moved to Austin, TX that I was introduced to a demographic in which I realized I was a minority. There, I grew a stronger appreciation for people of different backgrounds as well as my own people and culture. My artwork is a mix of oil paintings and graphic art, and primarily focuses on realism. It is inspired by everyday life experiences and various cultures. While most of my portraiture is a simple enlightening of people's emotions and their cultures, my pieces also represent social issues that affect both my audience and myself. Through those pieces, I find it vital to give a voice to the voiceless and display various expressions of emotions.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PIECE:

The pieces I designed for this project focus on the past and present of the Washington franchise, portraying memorials for the most notable group of this franchise, The Hogs, as well as current players that represent our team in the best light. I have also created a mural highlighting the inspirational icons from this area, representing the past and present sounds of the DMV area.
