Scott Fitterer enters his second season as a Personnel Executive in Washington and 27th year working in the NFL.
Previously, Fitterer served as the general manager of the Carolina Panthers for three seasons. A Super Bowl-winning executive, he has reshaped Carolina's roster, including a trade up for the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, where he selected quarterback Bryce Young.
In his previous two drafts, Fitterer and staff selected integral pieces of the franchise, starting cornerback Jaycee Horn (2021) and left tackle Ikem Ekwonu (2022).
Previously, Fitterer spent 20 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks (2001-20) in a variety of roles, beginning as an area scout (2001-10) and finishing as the vice president of football operations (2020). He spent five seasons (2015-19) as co-director of player personnel, where he worked collaboratively with former Panthers scout Trent Kirchner in directing both the college scouting and pro personnel departments in acquiring talent and managing all aspects of the Seattle roster. He was responsible for the evaluation of all draft-eligible players nationally, oversight of the Seahawks college scouting staff and worked closely with the general manager on every aspect of the annual Draft.
In that span (2015-20), the Seahawks ranked second in the NFC with 62 total wins, including two division championships and five playoff appearances, while drafting a number of impact players outside the first round in Frank Clark, Tyler Lockett, Shaquill Griffin, Tre Flowers, and D.K. Metcalf.
As the director of college scouting (2011-14), Fitterer fully coordinated the Seattle's scouting operation and delivering full scouting reports on college prospects throughout the draft process. During that four-year stretch, Seattle notably drafted defensive back Richard Sherman, linebacker K.J. Wright, quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker Bobby Wagner who accrued 20 Pro Bowl selections between them and led Seattle to six playoff victories, including a win in Super Bowl XLVI.
Before joining Seattle, Fitterer spent three seasons with the New York Giants (1998-2000), as a part-time scout before being assigned to the West Coast region for the 2000 season.
A two-sport athlete, Fitterer played quarterback in football and pitcher in baseball at UCLA (1992-94) and LSU (1994-95). A 1995 draft pick of the Toronto Blue Jays, Fitterer spent three years in Toronto's minor league system (1995-97) before his career ended due to three shoulder surgeries.
Fitterer returned to UCLA (1998) to earn his undergraduate degree in history. Born in Seattle, Wash., he is a graduate of Kennedy High School in Seattle. Fitterer and his wife, Cherish, have two children, a daughter, Ella, and son, Cole.
